What are my ground transportation options once I have landed? 

ROA is served by all major car rental agencies, bus services, ride-sharing, and taxis. For complete details and contact information, please see the Ground Transportation page.

Where are the rental car desks located? Do I need to take a shuttle?

All rental car desks are located in the on-site rental car facility which can be accessed via a walkway on the east side of the building. Come down the escalator, turn left, and walk to the end of the hall to access the walkway.

What are the rental car hours?

Please contact your rental car company directly for operating hours. 

My bag is missing. Where do I go?

Please visit your airline's ticket desk for assistance.

What are the airport’s operating hours?

If there are passengers in the airport, we’re open. The terminal doors generally open at 3:30 a.m. and close at 1 a.m. or when the last flight arrives, whichever is later.

When does the security checkpoint open and close?

The checkpoint opens at approximately 4:15 a.m. and closes after the last flight of the evening concludes boarding.

What are the airline operating hours?

Please contact your carrier directly for operating hours due to the fluid nature of the current environment which can cause counter hours to change with minimal notice. Baggage cut-off times vary by airline. Please check with your airline directly for more information.

The American Airlines ticket counter opens at approximately 3:45 a.m. and closes shortly before the last American flight of the evening departs.

The Delta ticket counter opens approximately 2 hours before the first flight and closes shortly before the last Delta flight of the evening departs.

The United ticket counter opens approximately 2 hours before the first flight and closes shortly before the last United flight of the evening departs.

The Allegiant Air ticket counter is open approximately two hours before the departure of a scheduled Allegiant Air flight. For ticket purchasing hours, please visit the Allegiant Air site.

What are the hours of the news and gift shop?

Hudson News opens one hour before the first flight of the day. The stores close one hour after the last flight departs.

How early do I need to be at the gate before my flight?

Please give yourself plenty of time. Most carriers will begin boarding at least 30 minutes before departure when possible. Allegiant requires passengers to be in the gate area 40 minutes before departure. The early morning hours at ROA are the busiest at the checkpoint. Please give yourself extra time if departing between 5 to 6:30 a.m.

How do I check the status of my flight?

Please check with your airline for the most up-to-date flight information. Your airline's mobile app is a great source of information, including flight status, baggage tracking, connection details, and more.

What do I do if my baggage gets lost?

We hope this does not happen to you, but if it does, please check directly with airline personnel for the next steps.

Do I need a REAL ID to fly out of ROA?

Beginning May 2025, ROA travelers will need a REAL ID or another form of federally-approved identification. The REAL ID has a star in the top right corner of your ID.

ROA staff is pleased to present to community groups throughout the year. Please email comments@flyroa.com with your request.

I am dropping off or picking up a passenger. Where do I go?

The Terminal curb is reserved for active loading and unloading. If you would like some extra time, the first 30 minutes of parking is free in all ROA lots. Vehicles may not be left unattended at the curb for any reason. Unattended vehicles are subject to being ticketed and/or towed.

Does ROA offer currency exchange services?

ROA does not offer currency exchange services. Airports with service from ROA with currency exchange services include Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, New York City, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.

Does ROA have WiFi?

Yes, ROA offers free WiFi.
